Hutong’s Red Lantern Series: Occasionally Fiery rekindles the spirit of its origins, celebrating more than two decades of defining Northern Chinese cuisine in Hong Kong with a limited-time menu available from 28 March to 28 June 2026. The series pays tribute to the original Red Lantern dish that first brought Hutong into the spotlight and helped shape its enduring legacy.

Inspired by the Guizhou red lantern chilli at the heart of Hutong’s culinary identity, the menu explores the depth and complexity of Sichuan spices through six curated courses. From the original Red Lantern – Crispy Soft-shell Crab with Sichuan Dried Chilli to Crispy Lobster with Sichuan Dried Chilli,  Lau Fau Shan Oysters in Sichuan Chilli Pepper Broth, Steamed Mandarin Fish Fillet with Sichuan Red & Green Peppercorn, Flaming Wagyu Beef Char Siu and Hutong-style Steamed Eggplant with Chilli Sauce, each dish is presented in Hutong’s signature lantern baskets, balancing heat, aroma and presentation. Two exclusive canned craft drinks extend the Red Lantern experience beyond the table, reinforcing the restaurant’s bold, theatrical and occasionally fiery approach to Northern Chinese dining.
